We are the people who end up saying, "Aww," when we witness young kittens prancing around their mothers. Yes, kittens can be adorable! But what can you say about all the different species of cats that are there in the world. Maybe at a distance they are gorgeous but up close most people like to avoid the bigger cats of the world. But nonetheless, they are beautiful. All of you must be thinking why am I talking about cats, well, the reason is that the Zoo of Puerto Vallarta recently celebrated new additions to their small pride!

Since the past couple of weeks a wave of news cubs, have been welcomed at el Zoológico de Vallarta. A range of animals like Pumas, Jaguars, Leopards have come into their little kingdom. In total 2 African Leopards, 3 Americans Pumas, 2 Black Panthers (Melanistic Jaguars, one male and one female,) a White-headed Capuchin Monkey, 3 Common Jaguars, 5 African Dwarf Goats, and a few Guinea Pigs have been born. This is not the end folks! The Zoo of Puerto Vallarta is awaiting the arrivals of a Striped Hyena, a Canadian Wolf, a white Bengal Tiger, three Spider Monkeys, a Black Jaguar and an orange Bengal Tiger, over the coming weeks. Isn't that exciting? It is a sight worth watching!

The family who owns the Zoo, the Castañeda family, is deeply concerned about these animals and continuously strives for their preservation. They also believe that it is the utmost care and affection that they provide to the animals that in turn helps them to reproduce even in their confinement.

Speaking of animals, the Red Bone Team of PVYAFCA recently went to El Morro to fish for Tuna. This team even caught two large sized Tuna of about the 60 lb. during their 6 hour long Charter. The Bay of Banderas is home for the small Jacks, Bonitos and Dorados. Even big sized Sail Fish have been spotted in these regions. Big sized Rooster fish are also being brought in by Punta Mita.

The great fishing season has begun and the "Toroaba" boat has brought good hearty catches of Tuna, Dorado and even some Sail Fish. What was most exciting about this was that they even managed to get hold of some Black and Blue Marlin which was at the La Corbeteña.

At the El Banco, fish like Blue and Black Marlin, in addition to Tuna, Dorado and Sail Fish have been spotted. The season of fishing has very well taken off and will hopefully continue till the month of December. With the way the fish have been flowing in, a number of locals and tourists of Puerto Vallarta have begun their fishing escapades. It is fun and exciting and an activity that you can do with your entire family.

Taco Salad Wow!

1 head green leaf lettuce
1 (15 ounce) can corn
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans
1 (6 ounce) can black olives, chopped
1 (5 ounce) bag nacho cheese flavor Doritos
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
3/4 cup Catalina dressing
1 lb ground beef
1 (1 1/2 ounce) package taco seasoning

1. Brown ground beef.
2. Add taco seasoning and cook according to directions on seasoning pack.
3. Drain liquid from corn, kidney beans, and black olives.
4. For parties where salad will go fast, mix all ingredients, except the Nacho Doritos, together well and serve.
5. Crush a hand full of Nacho Doritos and sprinkle over salad.
6. If you are planning on eating salad throughout the day, or serving up leftovers the next day, store all ingredients in separate containers and mix in individual bowls for serving. This will keep the lettuce and chips fresh and crisp.

1 head lettuce, washed & drained well
1 (8 ounce) container grape tomatoes
1 (12 ounce) bag Doritos (I prefer Pepper Jack or Extra Nacho)
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 (8 ounce) bottle fat-free Catalina dressing (regular makes it way too greasy!!)
1/2 lb ground beef
taco seasoning

1. Brown ground beef and drain. Add taco seasoning - follow package directions. Alow to cool slightly or put in refrigerator if you don't want to use the salad right away.
2. TEAR lettuce into bite size pieces, but into bowl. Cut tomatoes in half, and spread out on top of lettuce. Put cheese on top of tomatoes. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Just before serving, add Doritos, meat (if refrigerated, use microwave to take chill off of meat), and salad dressing. Toss well!
3. Don't skimp on the cheese or doritos, the more the better! I use the whole bag of Dorito's. Not snack size, or Extra large, just the regular size bag -- .

I prefer the wick method over the mat capillary method due to the wick being more positive, i.e. wick in water goes to soil in pot. Where as the mat is not as positive, i.e. mat to bottom of pot. If soil in the pot does not make a good contact with the mat, then water is not transferred. A wicked pot can be lifted, the plant inspected and wick returned to the water reservoir without much concern about the positive contact of wick to soil. Do that with a mat system and low and behold, I have found that replacing the pot did not make a positive contact with the soil/mat interface. OPPPS! Houston, we have a problem. That has NEVER happened with the wick system. Also, with a longer wick there is more wick surface/length to remain in contact with the water reservoir. With the mat system there is always the chance that the water level has dropped too low. Murphy's Law states that if something can go wrong -- it will. We had mats irrigated via drip tube system on a timer. All wonderfully automated on clocks etc. Took a short rest-bit on a long weekend kind of thing. Wouldn't you know, power failure in the greenhouse. No irrigation. Mats didn't get wetted.
With the wick method that would not have been an issue as we now have a four inch reservoir for the wicks.

The majority of African Americans, are working on jobs that don't provide health care. When they need medical help, they go to a free clinic, or a teaching hospital.

These medical facilities are breading grounds for expermentations.

Have you ever looked around, and noticed how many African Americans are on kidney dialysis. Do you really believe that many people have bad kidneys.

My sister told me about a lady that had a mother to die from "kidney disease". The hospital told her children to get tested, because they probably had it, but they couldn,t tell them the specific disease . Those that were tested, have either died, or living a horrible life on dialysis. Those that weren't tested, are in good health. One of the siblings that is on dialysis, was told "she has been taken off the transplant list, because she can't afford the medication".

I had a friend to go into the hospital, they did open heart surgery, and put her on dialysis, when she asked them why she was on dialysis, they told her, her kidneys had been bad for years, she just didn't know it.

The horror stories go on.

When you go in to that doctors office , or the hospital room, be ready to ask questions, read every thing, before you sign it, if you aren't sure what it is, have it explained to you.

You must be able to tell them about the problem you're having. Be specific, read and learn your body. If you are able to tell them something specific, they are less likely to experiment.

The other area that has become a huge problem, Children being placed on medication for behavior problems. This is a huge problem, and the school system is playing a big part in this. Teachers, are not psychologist, but they are the ones that have children placed on medication.

This is of great concern, because, parents can get a check for these children, when they are placed on medication. It was thought these were problems in particular areas of the country, but it has become apparent, this is all over the country. Children are being taken from homes, solely on the recommendations of teachers. It's know as legally kidnapping. There are reports of children dying from this medication. Most people don't realize, the drug company pays the school for putting childten on ritalin.

Research shows that when children have used ritalin, and taken off, they become violent.
