Wool Flokati

do you think that flokati rugs are against animal rights?

they dont have leather.they just shave the sheeps in spring because its hot and use the wool to make rugs.what is your opinion?

A few questions to ask yourself in situations such as these:

How were the animals bred?
Where are they going when they get old?
What are their living conditions like?
Do you think they would be consentful to all of this?
Is everything in the animals best interests?

If the sheep are kept primarily for their wool, then it's likely that their treatment is not in their best interests. If they are rescued companions who also have wool that needs shearing and would otherwise go to waste, and it's done in the animals' best interests, then I can't see a problem with it.

For instance, I'm hoping to look after some rescued hens when I'm older. The primary reason for this is to give them a good home that they would otherwise not have. If they happen to lay some eggs, then I may as well make use of them in some way or another if they don't. Like I could sell them to pay for the hen's keep, or just give them away so people don't buy them from the supermarket (the hens are horribly exploited for store-bought eggs, even in 'free-range' and 'organic' systems - I've been to these farms, it's not right!).
